Can mascara cause an eye infection?

I just got new mascara and i didnt share it with anyone its maybelline colosile in the yellow tube. My eye is reallly painful to touch just above my eyelashes. Could the mascara caused an infection?Can mascara cause an eye infection?
you might just be allergic to that brand. it might not even be related to your mascara. think of how many germs are on your hands and how often we touch our face/eyes without even realizing.
